Last Wednesday evening marked the official turning on of the Christmas Lights in the Burlington Arcade by HRH The Duchess of Cornwall.
It was a really lovely event, with over 600 guests in attendance. We were delighted to welcome some of our best clients and staff into the store where there was an endless supply of champagne and delicious home-made mince pies on offer to get everyone into the festive spirit!
Charlotte, our head of PR, and Kevin Williams, our master silversmith, were honoured to be introduced to the Duchess and explained about Thomas Lyte’s support of UK manufacturing and the craft industry.

On Wednesday, 20th July we hosted the launch of our new collection for Autumn Winter 2011, inspired by the work of the English Romantics. We were delighted to give the press and a host of bloggers a preview of the new leather ranges and silver pieces due to be launched between now and the end of September at our store in Burlington Arcade.
Our collection for women follows the simple elegance and authenticity of Byron’s poem “She Walks in Beauty”. Byron writes about truth and the light and dark that is love.
The men’s collection is an exploration of the extreme personality of settings depicted in Turner’s masterpieces of English landscape. It evokes a sense of wonder and a deep connection with the great outdoors.
Up on the first floor of the store, we were joined by our Master Silversmith, Kevin Williams and Leather Specialist, Ruth Glen who demonstrated the craftsmanship and skill required to create our stunning silver object and leather goods.
This year make Father’s Day something special with a gift to be treasured forever.

Last Tuesday evening saw the launch of the 2011 Leuka Mini Masters hosted by Dougray Scott – star of Mission Impossible II and Leuka patron.
Taking place in the Penthouse suit of the May Fair Hotel, the Penthouse Putt-Off saw celebrities including actresses Claire Forlani and Neve Campbell, Tim Lovejoy, ITN newsreader Geraint Vincent and guests, all attempting to win a ‘hole in one’.

Luxury prizes, including a beautiful Thomas Lyte leather weekend bag were fiercely competed for on London’s highest putting green installed on the balcony of the suite, whilst raising money for Leuka, a pioneering leukaemia charity based at London’s Hammersmith Hospital.

The 2011 Leuka Mini Masters hosted by Dougray Scott will take place at Dukes Meadows, Chiswick on Friday 15th July and we are delighted to be one of the official partners of the event.

Now in its fourth year, the Leuka Mini Masters is a unique blend of celebrity par-3 tournament, summer garden party and boutique music festival. The event attracts many of Britain’s leading golfing celebrities with the Team Captains this year including James Nesbitt, Gabby and Kenny Logan, Jamie Theakston, Gianluca Vialli and Tim Lovejoy.

The Sport Industry Awards 2011 were held on May the 11th at Battersea Evolution, London. 1,700 guests attended the spectacular 10th Anniversary celebration, which once again featured a host of sporting celebrities including Andrew Strauss, AP McCoy, Jack Wilshere, Joe Calzaghe, Petr Cech, Michael Vaughan, Dame Kelly Holmes and many more as well as industry heavyweights mixing with representatives from every corner of the business of sport.
Thomas Lyte were proud to see the trophies that had been hand crafted in the workshop presented to truly deserving sportsmen, including the Leadership in Sport Award;

Wednesday marked the launch of our brand new ‘Alice’ capsule collection, made up of exquisite ladies’ tote bags, clutches and small leather accessories. To celebrate the new collection, we hosted a press breakfast at our Mayfair store on Wednesday morning for over 40 top luxury journalists and fashion stylists.

Our Deputy Chairman Mark Henderson gave a speech introducing Alice, and went on to talk about what makes Thomas Lyte such an English brand, the company history and his love of all things London.

The collection is quintessentially English; the pieces are delicate and decidedly feminine, and available in colour ways that are reminiscent of an English summer garden. The Alice collection is entirely hand crafted and uses beautiful butter soft nappa leather for both the outer body and the lining of the bags. This symmetry gives the Alice a wonderful vintage feel
as well as adding sumptuous movement and drape to each piece. The delicate ‘bootstrap’ handles and trim are made from luxurious padded lizard skin in contrasting shades while the buttons and furnishings are rhodium finished.

As intriguing as she is beautiful, concealed inside the Alice are hidden pockets and pouches. The Alice clutch features a zipped inner pocket, and another invisible pocket hidden behind this. Thomas Lyte’s flagship store launched on Thursday 18th November with the annual turning on of the Burlington Arcade Christmas lights. It was a wonderful night with a number of old friends and new faces admiring the new collection and the exquisite interior.
