After 47 years, the record for highest goal-scorer for England has finally been broken. Wayne Rooney now holds the title, beating Sir Bobby Charlton’s 49 goals by scoring last month in a penalty against Estonia. This is a fantastic and honourable opportunity for Thomas Lyte, and further strengthens our relationship with English football. The presentation of the golden boot occurred at Wembley Stadium last Friday night.
The process of creating the boot, which belongs to Rooney, starts with a copper coating to solidify the boot and uncover all the detail within. The boot is then covered in 24-carat gold plating and placed on a wooden plinth, recognising Rooney as the nation’s leading goal-scorer. This stunning award, we are sure no doubt, will take pride in his home and be something to treasure.
