Thomas Lyte Silver were commissioned by the RFU to create a new rugby trophy honouring the late Sir Edmund Hillary and his contribution to New Zealand and Great Britain. The shield will be contested for the first time on 29 November 2008 at the Investec Challenge Test match when the All Blacks team take on England at Twickenham. The shield. which has been created from 9KG of Sterling Silver and measures over 2 feet in diameter, will be presented to the winning team by Sir Edmund Hillary's widow, Lady Hillary.
