Kevin BakerThomas Lyte is a modern English luxury lifestyle brand specialising in exquisitely fashioned leather and silver accessories, all with a contemporary twist. 

CEO Kevin Baker established Thomas Lyte on a strong set of founding values: Craftsmanship, Englishness, Luxury and Modernity.

An ardent supporter of the resurgence of British artisanship and craftsmanship, Kevin understands that discerning buyers are increasingly seeking provenance, craft and individuality. Thomas Lyte’s objective is to fuse traditional values and craftwork with beautiful, contemporary designs that are excitingly relevant to today’s customer. 

The Thomas Lyte silver workshop, one of the largest in Britain, is presided over by master silversmith Kevin Williams, a Freeman of the Goldsmiths’ Company which received its first Royal Charter in 1327.The expert team of silversmiths are responsible for the creation of the brand’s contemporary silver accessories and homewares as well as the care and restoration of some of sport’s most iconic trophies; these, include football’s FA Cup, golf’s Ryder Cup and the Webb Ellis Rugby World Cup. Thomas Lyte’s silver team are also responsible for creating silver commissions, from medals to bespoke objet. 

Our London-based leather atelier - also designs and develops Thomas Lyte’s distinctive range of leather bags and accessories.The origin of brand’s name is rooted in English history. The Thomas Lyte Jewel is one of the finest examples of English craftsmanship – combining extraordinary skills in enamelling, gold-smithing, diamond cutting, jewel setting and the work of renowned miniaturist Nicholas Hilliard. Thomas Lyte was a courtier and genealogist who presented King James I with a lineage tracing his ancestry, helping to secure his position on the English throne. The King commissioned this unique piece as a reward.

As Kevin Baker explains “It was an era that saw the birth of English luxury when we began to value objects for their aesthetic quality as well as their functionality: a sentiment that remains extremely close to the heart of the Thomas Lyte brand today”. Inspired by the values represented by the Thomas Lyte Jewel, Kevin Baker decided to resurrect the Thomas Lyte name as a symbol of the ‘Rebirth of English Luxury and Craftsmanship.

With one of the brand’s founding principles being ‘Ethical’, the Thomas Lyte Foundation is crucial to Kevin Baker’s vision. The Thomas Lyte Foundation is a registered charity, to which 10% of all Thomas Lyte profits are donated. Established upon the belief that when you buy a luxury item your purchase should help to improve the lives of the people who created it, the Foundation aims to provide support and encouragement to aspiring English artists, designers and craftspeople. These are the people that we at Thomas Lyte see as fundamental to the future of English luxury.
