Designers and Makers of the League of Legends Summoner's Cup

Thomas Lyte is the Designer and Creator of The League of Legends Summoner’s Cup, commissioned by Gaming Industry leader, Riot Games in the USA to create the perpetual Championship Cup introduced for the Season Two World Championships in October 2012.

The Summoner’s Cup was hand crafted by Thomas Lyte’s master silversmiths at its silver workshops in London. The team of craftsmen and women spent more than 300 hours creating the trophy, to commemorate the contest between the incredible League of Legends competitors known as ‘Summoners’.

Cast in brass and silver plate with 24 carat gold accents, the trophy is embedded with 26% lead optical crystal, stands a majestic 70cm tall and weighs 16kg. The manufacturing process combined traditional silversmithing methods, including spinning, casting, hand chasing, hand engraving, silver and gold plating and hand polishing. Overlaying these traditional skills our manufacturing team employed leading edge, pioneering modern techniques which included a complete electrical system that enabled the trophy to fully illuminate.

In September 2019, Louis Vuitton announced a partnership with Riot Games for the world famous Summoner’s Cup, one of the most acclaimed trophies in esports. Michael Burke, Chairman and CEO of Louis Vuitton said “Louis Vuitton has long been associated with the world’s most coveted trophies, and here we are today, alongside the Summoner’s Cup. We are thrilled to be part of such an iconic event.” The 2019 League of Legends World Championship finals kick off on the 2nd of October, with 16 teams competing to become world champions.
