Designers & Makers of The Monster Energy FIM Speedway of Nations Trophy

Commissioned in March 2018, Thomas Lyte are the Designers and Makers of the Monster Energy FIM Speedway of Nations Trophy. Continuing our longstanding relationship with the FIM Speedway World Championships, Thomas Lyte were tasked with designing a new trophy for an exciting new World Championship event.

It is the first time a World Championship event has been decided over a pairs format in speedway since the 1998 World Team Cup; featuring 15 countries, staged during the FIM Speedway Grand Prix summer break in place of the FIM Speedway World Cup.

The trophy stands at 55cm tall, a contemporary and modern design, atop of the trophy is a hand engraved golden globe, whilst the body of the trophy has a hand cut opening on either side which reveals a Black Anodised Aluminium Stem, adorned by two separate hand crafted spiralling sheets of metal; a nod to the uniqueness of this event - representing the road to glory for the two winning riders.

After the assembly process the trophy is plated with 20 microns of sterling silver and 2 microns of 18 carat gold. Once plated, the trophy is hand polished and finished, the total process passed through the hands of 4 expert silversmiths over the course 12 weeks.

BSI Speedway managing director Torben Olsen believes the new competition will ensure an epic title race and bring new nations on to the world speedway stage.
