Makers of The FIBA World Cup Trophy

Thomas Lyte are humbled to continue their fantastic partnership with Radiant Studios and FIBA as the Makers of the Fiba World Cup Trophy.  Unveiled at the official draw ceremony for the qualifiers in May 2017, the World Cup trophy or also known as the Naismith Trophy will be contested for in China in 2019.

Handcrafted in the London workshop by our world renowned silversmiths, the trophy stands at 60cm tall, 13cm taller than the original.  Crafted from gold, it features a hoop with the original name for FIBA, 'Federation Internationale de Basketball Amateur', reflecting the everlasting spirit of the competition. Designed in an Egyptian inspired lotus shape, the trophy inspires tradition and prestige.

Made to celebrate the growth of this competition, the 2019 World Cup will see the professional teams vying for this iconic trophy grow from 24 to 32 teams.  Qualifying games will take place over a two year cycle with 6 windows of play.  The top seven teams will subsequently qualify for the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo.
